Jason Wu Beaded Flannel Clutch
By aclineo | July 11, 2011
Jason Wu’s Beaded Flannel clutch was featured in his Fall 2011 runway show so this one’s pretty much hot off the presses. This is one of my favorite designers yet somehow, has never been featured on this blog before! I’ll just go ahead and tell you a bit about him in case you don’t already know.
The Taipei-born Wu interned at Narcisco Rodriguez until 2006 when he decided to launch his own label. Wu’s high level of success was almost immediate but when you consider the immense amount of talent he possesses, the fact that he was able to achieve so much in such little time should come as no surprise. It should be noted that he was the 2010 winner of the Swarovski Award for Women’s Wear at the CFDA Fashion Awards so he’s become quite established and highly revered within the fashion industry.
Wu’s aesthetic is a combination of Old world and modern elements, and the Beaded Flannel clutch is a wonderful example of that. Its solid black color and clean lines represent the contemporary aspect while the beaded flower accents are reminiscent of times past. The flowers are so beautiful that the best way to wear this bag is in such a way that the colors are able to become the stars of the show (see Wardrobe ideas).
LET’S GET TECHNICAL: The Beaded Flannel clutch by Jason Wu is made from a black wool flannel with multicolor floral crystals added on. Its measurements are 5″H x 10″W x 1 3/4″D.
